Do newbies have to have their posts approved?
Mine disappeared....and I spent a while 5 minutes typing it

Yes. The first post has to be approved. It used to be set at the first five posts. It is an attempt to eliminate SPAM and so far it seems to be working. Sorry for the inconvenience, however all of that typing should not have disappeared. Probably a glitch in the system. Welcome to the LXDE forum. Hopefully your experiences will be more pleasant than your first one.

Since we are all volunteers here on the forum, it usually takes until a moderator signs on and recognizes that there are posts awaiting approval. I normally sign on in the morning but this morning we were travelling so I didn't get on until the afternoon. Apparently no other mod signed on so the approval of your post was delayed a bit. As has been said, this is required because of the SPAM problem that were had. The requirement to have your first post approved seems to have alleviated the SPAM problem so it remains in effect.
