Hey guys,
I've been using Ubuntu for a couple years. And all this time I've been using Gnome. Now I have an older computer with only 512MB of Ram, and eventhough Ubuntu is fast on it, it could still be faster. So someone told me to try LXDE, that it's extremely quick. And this person was right, LXDE is fast.
But...since I am so used to Gnome, I have a couple questions about LXDE.
First thing is about the Trashcan. There isn't one. I did some searches, and I guess LXDE can't have one for whatever reasons. A search told me to install Libtrash, which I did, but I'm not sure how to use it. So if anyone uses Libtrash, any info how to use or how it works would be great.
The other things are, how do I create a new folder on my desktop? When I right-click on my desktop, there is no create new folder option. So is this not possible? Am I going to have to create a new folder in an already existing folder and then drag it to my desktop? Or is there a work around for this?
The last thing is, the compress option. I have Rar and 7zip installed. Now on Gnome, I would right-click the folder I wanted to compress and hit Create Archive. Then pick either a .rar, .zip, or .7zip extension. In LXDE, I right-click a folder and hit Compress, but there is no option for .rar or .7zip. Only .zip. Is there a way around this?
Thank you for any help. It will be appreciated.
EDIT: One other thing I just noticed. When you highlight an mp3 file, right-click and hit Properties, nowhere does it show the bitrate of that mp3 file. Something that Gnome does, and I depended on. Is there something that I can do to get the bitrate to show up in the Properties box in LXDE?
Thanks.

Hi
Add your folders or applications (/usr/share/applications) in /home/ur_name/DesktopThe other things are, how do I create a new folder on my desktop? You're right, there is no trashcan, but it's in development.h8uthemost wrote:Hey guys,

Start PCManFM go to "~/Desktop/" and do whatever you want.h8uthemost wrote: The other things are, how do I create a new folder on my desktop? Currently not, it's hard-coded, afaik.h8uthemost wrote: The last thing is, the compress option. I have Rar and 7zip installed. Sorry, this is currently not possible.h8uthemost wrote: EDIT: One other thing I just noticed.
