File Transfer between computers

Post by Gramps »

I have a laptop and a netbook that I transfer files between on a regular basis. With Ubuntu 9.10 I can use ssh to make a connection from Places/Connect to Server. I don't see a way of doing this using LXDE am I missing something? I don't want to use a usb stick because to me that is the same as sneakernet.

Hi,

You can use ssh from every desktop, even from the console. So where is the problem? Beside this, you could give "gtknetcat" a try.

Don't want to type commands at the command line each time, using gnome I have it bookmarked and I can just click on it. Guess I'm just lazy. gtnetcat is for 2 computers that are directed computers and it is gnome so wouldn't that defeat using LXDE if you needed to load all the gnome libs? Also the computers in question are wireless. Suppose I could write a script and use ssh. Thanks for the ideas.
