Remote server GUI

Dear Community,

On Nautilus, I use "connect to server" a lot to securely connect to a remote server giving me graphical access to all files and folders as if they were on my own computer. How can I do the same if I have LXDE installed instead of GNOME with Nautilus?

Hi,

the "old" PCManFM (Version 0.5.*) isn't able to do this. If you want to use this functionality, please have a look at the "new" PCManFM (0.9.*). It support things like FTP (I guess you wanted this?!).

Looks like I am using pcmanfm2 - 0.7.0

Is there another application I can install which does a similar thing? I needs to support ssh/sftp.

Lots of people seem to like Filezilla as a graphical FTP client. That should handle your SFTP requirement. There is also gFTP.
I found secpanel as a graphical SSH client.

Or, you can just use the command line ssh and sftp that come from the openssh package.

I was also trying to connect to my server this way. I found this old thread. In new lubuntu 14.04 you can do it as follows:

PMmanFM (alt + crtl + d) and go to "go" and at the bottom there is "connect to server". That's it.

Also you can use filezilla to act like that.

We appreciate your information but remember this thread is over 4 years old and the versions talked about have been replaced with newer ones. In the future please start your own thread even if it is only for information purposes. By the way welcome to the LXDE forum. We are a small forum with an even smaller active participation.
